How to setup a google account
Setting up a google account is a simple process and involves registering with google.com and completing the registration process. Please find a walk thru below to help aid your registration.
1. goto http://www.google.com/analytics and click the link.
2. If setting up a new account click "New to Google Analytics? Sign Up Now" or if you already have an account click "Access Analytics"
3a. If new to google click "Creat an account now" or enter Email and password if already registered
3b. If an existing google account holder enter Email and Password and sign in - Proceed to step XX
4. Enter email address, choose a password and complete all of the registration details. Enter the word verification and click "I accept. Create the account"
5. After you clicked the create account button you will be sent a link to verify your details. Follow onscreen instructions to verify your account setup as this can vary from email client to client
6. Once you recieve the email, follow the instructions on screen. You will be redirected back to google homepage to indicate you have verified your account. Click the link "Click here to continue". You have now setup a google account.
7. Next you will be able to set up your google analytics account. Click signup for google analytics
8. Complete general information details and click continue
9. Complete contact information details and click continue
10. Tick the box to agree with the T's & T'cs and click the button "Create New Account"
11. This page will display the code that needs to be implemented into your website. Here you will need to copy and paste the code
To copy and paste the code, you will need to do the following:
- Click just after this code "<script type="text/javascript">" within the analytics code
- To Select Code: Hold down the "Ctrl" button (and then whilst holding down the "Ctrl" key) press the letter "A" once (do not hold A key down), this will highlight all of the code and you have now selected it.
- To Copy Code: Hold down the "Ctrl" button this time press the letter "C" once. This will copy the code, you will not be able see it, but this has copied the code to your computers memory.
- To Paste Code: Next you need to paste the code into the "Analytic Code" box in the "Google Analytics Submission" page. To do this, click in the box, Hold down the "Ctrl" button and this press the letter "V", you should then see the code u have copied. If nothing happens repeat steps 11a - 11d again.
Once you have copied the code, click the button "Save and Finish"
12. Once your analytic code is in place, you will be able to monitor the website activity
